PASOK leadership debate: Candidates spar over party's future

The debate of the six candidates for the leadership of PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) took place on Tuesday night.

The six candidates included Nikos Androulakis, Pavlos Geroulanos, Nadia Giannakopoulou, Anna Diamantopoulou, Haris Doukas, and Michalis Katrinis.

The debate focused on issues related to the economy, development, the social state, the new generation, the demographic issue, foreign policy, defence, the European Union, institutions, local government, the climate crisis, civil protection, the energy transition and matters concerning the party. The wiretapping scandal, the Tempi accident and the low percentages of the party were also raised.

Candidates had to answer questions in 90 seconds. The procedure allowed for a total of six follow-up questions to each candidate, while they also had the option of submitting questions, statements, and comments a total of five times during the debate.

PASOK’s leadership election is scheduled for October 6.
