Some 22 people were rounded up by police after disrupting an event at the National Technical University of Athens on Friday afternoon.

According to the Greek police, the free event "Researcher's night" at the Averof building of the Polytechnic included honorary invitees, teachers and students. Shortly after it began, a number of people entered the room and started cursing and throwing objects at the audience. The university officials notified the police, which led members of the audience away and rounded up 22 people for questioning.

A preliminary investigation is taking place by State Security of the Attica Region Security Directorate, police said.
