Dozens of asylum seekers had joined in a protest march at the Moria hotspot on Tuesday morning, demanding to be immediately transferred to Athens, better safety standards in the hotspot and justice for the incidents that occurred on Sunday, in which one woman died and many others were injured in a fire that broke out in containers used to house asylum seekers.
A strong police force has been deployed on the highway around Moria to prevent the protestors reaching the town of Mytilene.
