Gas leak in Athens' Kallithea district to be repaired by noon, Attica gas company says
Damage to the natural gas network that caused a gas leak in Athens' Kallithea district will be repaired by noon, the Attiki Natural Gas Distribution Company announced on Friday. The area has been cordoned off as a precaution.
The company said the leak occurred at 10:30 on Thursday night at a valve station on the corner of Synggrou Avenue and Solonos Street in Kallithea.
A team of technicians was sent to repair the damage, while the fire brigade and police were alerted and the area cordoned off as a precaution. The repair team was able to isolate the leak without having to turn off the gas supply to consumers and is now working to carry out repairs.
The company stressed that there was no danger for the surrounding residents and consumers or to facilities using natural gas.
