Clean Monday kite flyers can expect favourable weather, meteo predicts

Scattered clouds that will gradually start to mass and produce showers in the west, with moderate southerly winds and rising temperatures, are the forecast given by the National Observatory of Athens weather service meteo for the Clean Monday holiday.

Winds are favourable for the traditional kite flying activities of the holiday, with their intensity at around 3-4 Beaufort until the afternoon. At sea, winds will blow from a southerly direction in the Aegean, reaching a peak of 6 Beaufort, while in the Ionian they will blow at similar intensity from the southeast.

There may be some showers in the Ionian Sea and western Greece and possibly in Thrace from the afternoon.

Temperatures will range from 2C to 17C in northern Greece, 7C to 19C in central and southern Greece, 8C to 18C in western Greece and from 7C to 22C on the islands of the Aegean.

Partly sunny weather is forecast in Attica, with clouds massing from the afternoon and temperatures ranging from 6C to 18C. Winds will blow from the southwest, 3-4 Beaufort, rising to around 5 Beaufort in the afternoon. Partly cloudy in Thessaloniki, with temperatures from 6C to 17C and winds weak to almost moderate, 3-4 Beaufort.

Meteo urged motorists to be careful during travel in western Greece, especially in the early morning, while generally good conditions are expected throughout the road network in the afternoon, except in the west and parts of Thrace.
