Greece will be one of first countries to get new NSRF approval, Georgiadis says

The Greek economy has withstood the pandemic crisis and the government has all the time and tools to establish viable and long-term growth, Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis said on Friday at the Regional Growth Conference 2021, held in Patras by the newspaper 'Peloponnisos'.

In a chat with journalist and Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) president Emilios Perdikaris, Georgiadis said among other things that the revocation of further restrictions following the coronavirus pandemic will come gradually.

Speaking of the state's cash reserves, he said that "it remains untouched, we have not used it at all," as over 30 billion euros have been pumped in the Greek economy as support measures. The government "is fully committed to bring investments in Greece and has (...) pushed forward all great investments from the past that were stuck for years," the minister said, highlighting the interest by investors from abroad.

In addition, he stressed there will not be a new generation of non-performing loans, "which is the reason we retained the basic banking criteria."

In terms of the new NSRF support, which falls under his portfolio, he said, "I can assure you that Greece will be one of the first countries to receive approval for the new NSRF 2021-2027."
