Fire at Volos industrial zone close to Halyvourgia steelworks plant

The fire began shortly after 17:00. It is burning low vegetation near the Volos-Velestino-Larissa highway, and is very near a gas station and a plant of Hellenic Halyvourgia steelworks, among other smaller industrial facilities there.

A force of 45 firefighters, 14 fire engines, 2 ground teams and 2 water-dowsing aircraft that took off from the Nea Agchialos airport are all battling the blaze.

This is the third fire to break out near Volos' industrial zones recently, noted the Fire Brigade.
