Germany's new Chancellor Olaf Scholz praises Greece's economic recovery, development
BRUSSELS (ANA-MPA/M. Aroni) - Germany's newly appointed Chancellor Olaf Scholz praised Greece's efforts for economic recovery and development, speaking at a press conference held in Brussels on Friday, alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Responding to reporters' questions about Greece, Scholz said that "we have worked very hard to cooperate with Greece in recent years. The same is true when I was finance minister of Finance. People in Greece have understood that," he underlined.
"Greece is now moving in the right direction of recovery and development, and that is something I appreciate very much."
He added that this a view shared by Germany's new finance minister Christian Lindner.
Scholz and Leyen also spoke about the coronavirus pandemic and the need to build an even stronger, more united Europe against the health crisis, among other issues.
