Opposition PASOK-Movement for Changel party leader Nikos Androulakis on Thursday visited the network of women refugees and migrants "Melissa", with the head of the European Parliament's Socialists and Democrats (S&D) group Iratxe Garcia Perez and S&D MEPs, whose presidency is convening in Athens on Thursday and Friday.

They met with women refugees from war zones and from countries where women's rights are violated, such as Afghanistan and Iran. The Ukrainian refugees revealed that they faced serious housing problems due to great delays in the implementation of the Helios programme.

Androulakis called for the support of European institutions, with Garcia Perez noting that support for vulnerable groups, such as women refugees, was high on the S&D agenda.

'Melissa' was founded in 2014 and has members from 45 countries, emphasising the integration of women and children.
