FM Dendias: I will table issues regarding the evacuation of EU citizens from Sudan
Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, upon his arrival at the EU Foreign Affairs Council taking place in Luxembourg on Monday, thanked EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell and the Foreign Ministers of France, Germany and Italy for their assistance in the evacuation of Greek citizens from Khartoum, while noting that Europe has not gotten "a very good mark" overall as regards the crisis in Sudan.
"In today's Council I will ask for a detailed discussion on issues concerning the evacuation of European citizens from Khartoum, from Sudan. I had already discussed it with Josep Borrell and he accepted my request," Dendias said.
He also pointed out that it was contradictory to vote on texts such as the strategic compass and not to be able to organise a European evacuation mission. Europe is judged by its ability to react to crises as Europe also and - I should like say - regarding the crisis in Sudan we haven't gotten a very good mark".
