KKE Koutsoumbas: The stronger KKE is, the stronger the people will be

Communist Party of Greece (KKE) general secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas on Monday said that 'there is no 'second Sunday', there is one [election] Sunday and the elections will be held on May 21. The result of this ballot, the percentages and the seats of each party will determine the formation of government. If we do not have a government, then there will be a second round at another date and under different conditions. The sole essence is this: a second round will only be held in order to strengthen the two first parties by stealing votes from the other parties, so that they can achieve their target, which is a single-party majority government".

Speaking on the state radio station ERA, Koutsoumbas made it clear that "a KKE trapped within a government that votes and implements commitments to NATO and the EU will obey the laws of the capitalist market economy and this means that the Greek people and the people's movement shall be bound hand and foot. It means new dissappointments, more lost years, because the change of the train driver does not change the direction when the tracks are anti-working class.

"The elections," Koutsoumbas said, "will be judged on how much stronger KKE becomes. The stronger KKE is, the stronger the people will be under any government, regardless whether it is led by ND or SYRIZA or whether it is a single-party or coalition government, he added.
