FM Dendias to meet Maltese counterpart Borg in Athens on Thursday

Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is to meet his Maltese counterpart Ian Borg on Thursday in Athens.

The two ministers will meet in private (at about noon) following a broader discussion between delegations of the two sides. Later, at 13:30, a cultural cooperation agreement between Greece and Malta will be signed.

The talks are expected to focus on further promoting bilateral relations in various sectors (economy, investments, tourism and culture) and on cooperation between the two countries within EU, NATO and other international organisations, cooperation in the context of EUMED-9, the migration-refugee issue and a series of international and regional matters, such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, developments in Libya, the foreign ministry said in an announcement.

The two ministers will make statements to the press at about 13:40.

The Maltese minister will participate on Wednesday evening in a foreign ministry event at the Acropolis Museum on the presentation of Greece's candidacy for the position of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2025-2026.

Borg's visit follows Dendias' visit to Malta in October 2022.
