SD on the sale of F-35s to Greece: Our cooperation strengthens NATO and makes the region safer
The United States' defence cooperation with Greece is at a historically high level and makes the wider region safer, the State Department noted regarding the imminent sale of F-35 fighter jets to Greece.
During the regular briefing, the spokesperson for the US State Department reiterated the long-standing position that the US government does not want to comment on the sale of defence equipment before there is an official notification from Congress.
However, responding later to a question from the Hellas Journal website, a State Department spokesperson stated that "the United States considers Greece an indispensable ally and partner in NATO. Together, our countries advance our common goals for peace and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Western Balkans, the Black Sea region and beyond. The US-Greece defence relationship is stronger than ever. Our cooperation strengthens NATO and makes the region safer."
