President Sakellaropoulou to open conference marking Lausanne Treaty centenary on Monday

President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou is to declare the opening of a two-day international conference marking the centenary of the Lausanne Treaty at 10:00 on Monday.

The conference - entitled "100 Years since the Treaty of Lausanne: Looking Back, Looking Ahead" - is under the patronage of the Greek president and has been jointly organised by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) in the NKUA Argyriadis Amphitheatre. It will be held in English.

The second day of the conference will take place at the A.Tritsis Ampitheatre, Municipality of Athens Cultural Center.

According to an ELIAMEP announcement, "the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne offers the opportunity for an in-depth, international, cross-disciplinary dialogue on the Treaty and its provisions, its relevance today and its contribution to the evolution of relations between Greece and Turkey as well as the geopolitical balance in the wider region."

The Conference proceedings will be recorded by the Bodossaki Foundation (Blod) and the NKUA will afterwards publish a collective volume with the Conference papers.
