KKE is the only true opposition in Greece, says Koutsoubas

Expanding on the event's thematic title on "Who created miraculous tourism?", Koutsoubas said it was due to KKE's support that workers in the tourism industry experienced first-hand the fact "that only the people save the people, defending their rights at work, securing collective labor agreements, and protecting them from employers' arbitrary exploitation."

While this was going on, he added, New Democracy, SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance and PASOK-KINAL promoted tourism as the "steam engine of the economy," fueled by "the intensity of the exploitation of hotel staff and all workers in the sector," he pointed out.

Koutsoubas also slammed SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras, citing recent Tsipras statements that any vote to parties beyond Syriza is a support vote for New Democracy. The KKE leader criticized his comment as one coming from a party that actually facilitated New Democracy's rate of nearly 41% in the May 21 elections.

In fact, Koutsoubas noted, it was Syriza that inadvertedly led hundreds of thousands of voters to New Democracy by promoting itself as the only alternative.
