Androulakis marks anniversary of Andreas Papandreou's death with visit to 1st cemetery
PASOK-KINAL leader Nikos Androulakis on Friday visited the Athens 1st cemetery and left a rose on the grave of PASOK's founder, Andreas Papandreou, to mark the 27th anniversary since the former prime minister's death.
In a statement before his departure for Crete, Androulakis said that "Andreas, through his presence, left his stamp on the later political history of the country," and that PASOK had "eliminated discrimination, established the social state and embraced the dreams, hopes and fears of a wounded people, guaranteeing the conditions for the prosperity and progress of all Greeks."
"He was a politician of international renown, who was known beyond the borders of Europe," he added. A video tribute to Andreas Papandreou was posted on Androulakis' and the party's social media accounts.
