PM Mitsotakis visits special aerial operations base in Elefsina, commends firefighting efforts
Specifically, the premier visited the Elefsina Air Base, the 383rd Special Operations & Air Firefighting Squadron, and the 355th Tactical Transport Squadron.
Mitsotakis was briefed on the particularly demanding task of extinguishing the fires that broke out this week, while he had the opportunity to speak with the crews who battle the fires daily, and the engineers who maintain the Canadair CL-215 and CL-415 water bombers, ensuring their operational readiness, noted government sources.
The prime minister was accompanied by Minister of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, and he also watched an en-masse take-off of two Greek, two French and one Croatian CL-415.
He thanked and commended crews and engineers, noting that they have the State's full support in their hard work.
