SYRIZA's Famellos: PM's plan in recent years was a 'catastrophe' for Ilia
The head of main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance's parliamentary group, Sokratis Famellos, in an interview published on Friday, strongly criticised the government's programme, saying it had been a "catastrophe" for the regional unit of Ilia in terms of health infrastructure and tertiary education, with many schools shut down.
Talking to the local newspaper "Proini Ilias", he said that "even though many rushed to speak of a gap in SYRIZA-PA's leadership the reality has proved them wrong... I consider our presence during the government's policy statements was adequate and we are exercising our role as the main opposition in the way we should."
"SYRIZA has proposed the strengthening of the National Health System, the decentralisation of the health services with a focus on primary healthcare facilities," Famellos added.
