Sixteen arrests on Greek islands for unlawfully occupying public beaches

Sixteen people were arrested on Greek islands between August 4 and August 6 for violations concerning the use of public space on beaches for businesses such as beach bars or the hiring out of sunbeds and beach umbrellas.

The violations included occupying the beach without a licence or exceeding the terms of a licence to occupy additional space, preventing free access to the shoreline.

Violations were found on the islands of Mykonos, Syros, Milos, Serifos, Zakynthos, Corfu and Kefallonia.
