Rescue operation launched for 50 people on stranded vessel near Falkonera
The Hellenic Coast Guard on Tuesday mounted an operation to rescue 50 people whose craft had to lay anchor at the island of Falkonera in the South Aegean.
The coast guard was informed that the vessel was immobilised, while other craft nearby were heading to its location from the island of Milos.
A coast guard helicopter has gone up to coordinate the rescue operation, while some of the people shipwrecked have managed to swim to shore. The rest are on the boat, waiting for the coast guard to arrive.
