Ferry transports technicians to work on restoring power in southern Pilio and Skiathos island
An open ferry left Volos in central Greece on Friday, bringing technicians, vehicles and equipment to the coastal resort of Milina in southern Pilio, where the storm 'Daniel' destroyed all access by land after a bridge collapse.
The ship was contracted by Public Power Corporation in order to restore the region's power system and that of Skiathos island, which receives power through the village of Lafkos on the mainland.
The ferry arrived at Milina at 18:00 and then returned to Volos, to remain on standby for any needed evacuation of people trapped after the storm.
