Cruiseship arrivals at Piraeus up 85% Jan-Aug 2023, compared to 2022

Cruiseship arrivals were up 85% in January-August 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 in the port of Piraeus, one of the top cruiseship port destinations in the Mediterranean, the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) said on Thursday.

Specifically, cruiseship passenger traffic in Jan.-Aug. was 928,357 compared to 500,905 the same period in 2022, with 78% of ships and 55% of passengers homeporting (round trip from the same port). There were 478 cruiseship arrivals in those eight months in 2023, compared to 419 in 2022, an increase of 14%.

PPA had its own pavilion in the European trade show "Cruise & River Cruise Convention 2023" of Seatrade Europe, which took place on September 6-8 in Hamburg.
