Measures taken to deal with violence and delinquency among minors
A meeting discussing measures for dealing with violence and delinquency among minors was held at the citizen protection ministry, chaired by Citizen Protection Minister Yiannis Economou. The meeting was held on Monday.
According to recorded figures, the Hellenic Police arrested 1,353 minors in connection with 1,201 cases in September, in order to tackle juvenile delinquency and ensure the safety of young people.
During the meeting, three axes were agreed upon:
- Record the areas where there are frequent cases of violence
- Establish a stronger police presence
- Enhance contacts, with the aim of understanding the true dimensions of the problem, while also keeping the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs informed, in the presence of specialist scientists.
