Economy Min: Higher tax revenues to boost social policy, including hospitals and education
State funding for hospitals in 2024 will rise by 481 million euros, while the Ministry of Education will receive 225 million more, National Economy & Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said on TikTok on Friday
In a message underlining that "the Greek economy will reach new heights in 2024," Hatzidakis said that it will be the first time in 13 years that civil servants will get a raise. The new year will bring more investments, which the government calculates will be 15%, mostly due to the Recovery Fund. "We shall give particular emphasis to our exports," he added.
Hatzidakis also spoke of developing public assets, especially in the form of concessions at regional ports and regional airports, while the effort to limit tax evasion had intensified. The revenues from this would be earmarked for boosting the government's social policy, he said.
