Kasselakis meets with taxi drivers' union at SYRIZA headquarters
The members of the Attica Taxi Drivers' Union has several thousands members who are working exclusively as drivers - ie not owners - and have been adversely affected by recent government measures, a statement by the main opposition party said.
Particular mention was made of issues related to the registries for professional drivers and owners, which provide a clear picture of the sector, the transfer of professional vehicles of public use (eg taxis), and problems from the non-implementation of the collective labor agreement.
According to the party, Kasselakis expressed his support for their concerns over their future, and "referred to the need for transparency in transfers of taxis and the registries, and of strengthening labor inspections in order to safeguard their professional rights."
Kasselakis said that "SYRIZA-PA's support is crystal clear on the fair requests of working drivers and the desire of the main opposition to highlight them in parliament as well, through the right means of parliamentary control, pressing the New Democracy government for just solutions."
