Referring to the relatives of the victims who participated in the event, Kasselakis noted, that "they are heroes who fight for democracy in our homeland."

Kasselakis underlined that "the families of the victims referred to the absurd protection that exists for parliamentarians in Greece regarding their immunity from criminal prosecution."

He added: "It is unthinkable that there are citizens in Greece who are not equal before the law ... Earlier this morning, I promised that if the Greek citizens trust us and elect us to govern the country, the first thing we will do is to abolish all the protections and immunities constitutionally enjoyed by members of our Parliament for no reason at all. It's a matter of ethics, it's a matter of common sense. It's just a matter of fairness for us all to be equal citizens under the Constitution."
