Kasselakis: The expectations of SYRIZA's members are our compass

"The people of SYRIZA were clear. Our duty, now, is to organise the political counterattack of our party, the progressive counterattack," main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Stefanos Kasselakis said in his statement to 'Efimerida ton Syntakton' on Monday.

"We will fight our battle in the European elections with all our strength. The expectations of our thousands of members are our compass. The solutions to the major problems and needs of Greek society are our roadmap," he noted and added:

"We seek the support of a social majority whose life is constantly becoming worse under the gray shadow of right-wing politics. We are not here to have pointless conversations, or to waste valuable political time. We are here to help the country and its people, to build a beautiful present and prepare a meaningful future for our young people."

"We look forward, so as to heal the country. And we tread carefully to find our footing in a Europe that has long since ceased being accountable to its citizens. In this Europe, we will fight the next great electoral battle: to win the mind and soul of progressive Europe, which is boggled at the impasses of the right and is in danger from the fallacies of the extreme right," Kasselakis stressed.

SYRIZA-PA, as the "strongest leftist and progressive force in Europe", he said, "will stand up against the right and the extreme right, which go hand in hand."

"Our party assumes those responsibilities that are self-evident for the history of the Greek left and all progressive forces," he added.
