Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis on Wednesday warned voters against "complacency" and stressed the importance of electing the right people to represent Greece in Europe, while touring the region of Argos.
"The difficult times are behind us...but that does not justify any complacency," he said, stressing that voters must not consider everything that has been achieved in recent years to be self-evident.
While Greece's continued presence in Europe was no longer at stake, while it was not at stake whether Greece will have a government that fortifies the borders or whether the country will go bankrupt, he explained, the European elections will decide whether those representing Greece want the right policies for the country:
"The European elections will decide whether we are represented in Brussels by those who ask for money to be cut for Greece, or by those who bring money to Greece. Whether those who want a Common Agricultural Policy that is harmful to the interests of farmers, or those who want, like us, a mild adaptation to the green transition, will go to Europe. Whether those going to Europe are those who want support for Greece, as we are already doing, by bringing additional resources for Greece, for migration and for natural disasters, or those who simply discredit Greece. This is the essence of the European elections."
