"The course of the European Union is not going to be halted," Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis said on Sunday speaking at public broadcaster ERT about the political landscape in Europe, as it is reflected in the result of the European elections. He noted that it is very important to have a strong Greek voice in the next five years in Europe.

"It is extremely important and I want to emphasize this, that we have before us a term in the European Union, which is very critical for the interests of Greece and unfortunately, I want to say this, with disappointment, that there was no extensive discussion and consultation on the issues of Europe during the pre-election period [...] It was very limited," Gerapetritis said and added: "But I want to say that the next five years will be the five years of rural development, a competitive Europe towards the United States, the implementation of the Migration Pact and especially the new geopolitical Europe towards the world. It is very important to be able to have a strong Greek voice."
