Sixty-one arrests for domestic violence on Sunday, Chrisochoidis says

The police made 61 arrests on Sunday, of which approximately half were in Attica, Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis said on Tuesday in an interview with the ERTnews TV, referring to the issue of domestic violence.

In addition, Chrisochoidis emphasised that there have been 550 incidents of domestic violence over the last weeks, for which 350 arrests were made.

He also noted that there are 63 offices for cases of domestic violence in police stations, almost one per prefecture, while in each prefecture there is a safe house, the address of which is known only to the police.

Regarding the panic button, he emphasised that more than 2,000 women have installed the application on their mobile phones, while every week approximately 10-20 women are added. At the same time, he stated that there will be the possibility for both children and the elderly to acquire a panic button.
