Stylianidis' statement on World Maritime Day

"The contribution of seamen to the world economy is invaluable, as they transport 90% of world trade, while they work non-stop under difficult conditions, away from their families, often facing adverse conditions and unpredictable risks," Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Christos Stylianidis said on Tuesday, on World Maritime Day.

Stylianidis stated that Greece, with its historical tradition in shipping, has a special reason to celebrate this day, as Greek sailors, with their commitment to excellence and innovation, continue to conquer the seas, keeping the country at the top of the global shipping industry.

"I am committed to continuing to work to protect and support our seamen. Their safety and well-being is our priority. Our goal is to ensure that all Greek seafarers work in conditions that allow them to carry out their work safely and with dignity," he emphasised.
