Mitsotakis participating in European People's Party meeting

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis arrived in Brussels on Thursday and is currently participating in the meeting of the European People's Party.

Later, the Greek prime minister will take part in the European Council meeting.

The debate on the persons who will assume the Presidency of the European Council, the Presidency of the European Commission and the position of High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs, is expected to dominate the meeting of the European Council.

It is noted that on Tuesday morning in a teleconference of the three political groups that hold the majority (EPP, Socialists, Liberals), there was a consensus for a joint proposal to support Antonio Costa for the position of President of the European Council, Ursula von der Leyen for the Presidency of the European Commission and Kaja Kallas for the position of High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs.

With regard to the European defense strategy and industry, the prime minister is expected to talk about the proposal he has jointly submitted with Donald Tusk in a letter to the President of the European Commission on the need to create a joint European defence project that will be financed with European funds, a European air defense shield.
