Prices in the wholesale electricity market have skyrocketed over the last weeks, PASOK-Movement for Change leader Nikos Androulakis said on Tuesday.

He also accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of having delayed the meeting on electricity prices, which took place earlier on Tuesday, adding that the country's energy map has been wrongly planned.

Androulakis underlined that the oligopoly of the four powerful creates conditions of filthy lucre.

"New Democracy will start saying again what we have proposed. For example, I heard in a report earlier about the taxation of excess profits. We believe that it should be a permanent mechanism. We have learned that a part of the energy subsidies to small and medium sized enterprises will be asked to be returned because they were given in the wrong way. This is amateurism," he said.

In the European elections, PASOK rose its percentage from 7.7% to 12.8%, up five points. "We managed to build on a solid foundation. PASOK is no longer a party that follows. It is an autonomous political pole, both from New Democracy and from SYRIZA. An autonomous pole that settled its debts, has organizations all over Greece, has a programme for all issues. I am very optimistic that moving forward with political autonomy, programme, political morals and consistency, PASOK will govern the country."
