President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, expressed her gratitude to Greece and France for their assistance to Bulgaria through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism in combating the ongoing wildfires. In a recent statement on X she highlighted the importance of European solidarity and collective action in addressing such critical challenges.

“A big thank you to France and Greece for assisting Bulgaria with wildfires via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. This is Eu solidarity in action. This summer, 556 firefighters from 12 countries and a rescEU fleet of 28 planes and 4 helicopters stand ready to fight wildfires”, she said on X platform.
