The Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis, emphasized that the GDP figures confirm the dynamism of the Greek economy following the Hellenic Statistical Authority's (ELSTAT) estimate for last year's growth.

According to an announcement from the Ministry of National Economy, the estimate for GDP growth in 2023 is now 2.3%, up from 2%, with an anticipated increase in investments of 6.6%, compared to the initial estimate of 4%. This includes revised data for the years 1995-2022 announced on Thursday by ELSTAT as part of the second estimate of the Annual National Accounts for 2023. The changes in ELSTAT's methodology reflect the usual revisions taking place across the European Union at this time.

"The upward revision of ELSTAT's data enhances the perception of an economy on a path of dynamic growth, with growth rates consistently among the highest in Europe," said Hatzidakis, adding that the economic data indicate the Greek economy is advancing, driven by a significant increase in investments.
