Marinakis: Constant effort for the improvement of the provided services in the NHS is intensified

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis on Monday referred to the upcoming discussion on Tuesday in parliament on amending the contract of a donation for the construction of a new wing at the Onassion Cardiac Surgery Center, which is to be renamed the Onassis Hospital. He explained that the amendment increases the amount of the donation to 82 million euros, from the amount of 70 million originally planned, and extends the deadline for the delivery of the project until March 31, 2025.

Marinakis noted that the cooperation of the state and civil society was further intensifying the constant effort to improve the services provided by the National Health System.

He also pointed out that the largest health infrastructure renovation programme, involving 80 hospitals and 156 health centres throughout Greece, was underway with funding from the Recovery and Resilience Fund, which will help improve conditions for both patients and healthcare staff.

Finally, he mentioned that, at the United Nations conference on the climate crisis, the cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection in Greece was presented as a good practice, for the preventive protection of 50 archaeological sites from forest fires, as well as the structure and objectives of the digital platform of the Ministry of Culture for the assessment of climate risks for archaeological sites and monuments throughout Greece.
