"In 2025 we will announce four new regimens under development law, including flagship investments, and these include the circular economy and shipbuilding," underlined Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos while addressing that Greek-American Chamber of Commerce's ""35th Greek Economic Summit".

He claimed that "it is not possible for one of the 4th-5th largest naval powers in the world to not have a strong shipbuilding industry. I also want to highlight the work that is being done in our shipyards, where thousands of workers are employed and which have been brought back to life. Cooperation with the United States is also strong there, as ONEX has been loaned a very large amount by the Development Bank of the USA. We are back on the shipbuilding map."

Theodorikakos said that the new production model should not be dealt with by the other political forces in terms of petty party confrontation and that it is a national necessity and a condition for the security and well-being of the country.

He touched on two key issues: The first concerns the financing of small and medium-sized enterprises, referring to tax incentives for business mergers and the DEFLI programme that offers strong access to financing. The second concerns the support of those who are struggling in their daily lives, with new ideas for major issues, such as the high rents.

Theodorikakos emphasised that the most social policy for sustainable development is the one that creates new jobs, adding that the government was interested in businesses making profits and reinvesting them. The aim is to further reduce unemployment, which has fallen from 17.5% to 9.3%, he said.

Finally, regarding the circular economy, he said that it is a key feature of the green transition, both for reasons of environmental protection and for reducing the cost of business activities, stressing that the government is not simply talking but taking action in this direction.
