Economy and Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis will leave for Brussels on Monday to take part in the Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings.

The Eurogroup meeting will be held on Monday, where the agenda includes a discussion with the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, as part of a series of meetings with key international partners on global economic developments. The discussion will focus on macroeonomic developments in the eurozone based on the results of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mid-term review, as well as the fiscal state of the eurozone member-states based on their the draft budgets they have submitted and their evaluation by the European Commission.

At the Ecofin meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, there will be a debate on the revision of the Energy Taxation Directive and ministers will be informed of the progress of work within the Council on proposals to reform the EU’s customs legislation. The Council will also take stock of the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility and will approve the revised national plans of Belgium, Denmark, Slovenia and Sweden. The agenda also includes discussions on the implementation of the economic governance reforms and the new fiscal rules that entered into force on April 30, 2024, the economic impact of the war in Ukraine and the annual report of the European Court of Auditors on on the implementation of the budget for the financial year 2023.

On the sidelines of Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings, Hatzidakis will meet with European officials.
