The Internal Security Medal for Civil Protection of the French Republic was awarded on Thursday to the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, by the Director General of Civil Protection and Crisis Management in France, Julien Marion, at a special event held at the Embassy of France in the presence of the Ambassador, Laurence Auer.
Kikilias emphasised the cooperation between the two countries in the field of civil protection, while thanking "for the exceptional honour bestowed upon him," which - as he said - reflects the effort made by the men and women of civil protection, the Fire Department and all security forces in "a very difficult firefighting period."
Marion, who visited the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, on his part referred to the "long history of cooperation" between Greece and France in the field of civil protection, the future prospects, as well as the challenges faced by the two countries in managing natural disasters.
