5.0R earthquake late on Sunday shook Amorgos

Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 5.0 and 4.7 on the Richter scale were announced by the Geodynamics Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, on behalf of the Unified National Seismological Network, late on Sunday.

The 5.0 Richter earthquake occurred at 21:05 with its epicentre in the sea area 21 km SW of Arkesini, Amorgos, at a distance of 226 km SE of Athens. It was preceded by a 4.7 Richter earthquake at 20:53, with its epicentre in the sea area 21 km SW of Arkesini, Amorgos, at a distance of 230 km SE of Athens.
