Rare footage: Asteroid crashed on Moon
A Spanish astronomer was able to record a rare astronomical event. An asteroid crashed into the Moon, and lucky Spanish recorded it on camera.
On September 11, 2013 Jose Maria Madiedo, professor at the University of Huelva, was observing the Moon with two telescopes, when he saw a glow at "Sea of Clouds", Mare Nobium.
After that "powerful" glow, he recorded for eight seconds, a dim light coming from the same area on the surface of the Moon.
According to his calculations, the asteroid weighted about 400 kg, had a diameter of 60 to 140 cm and the speed at moment of the impact reached 60,000 kilometers per hour.
