Giannis Perdios dies leaving behind major art collection

The great Greek art collector Giannis Perdios recently passed away leaving behind his extraordinary collection.

Born in Alexandria of Egypt he was an obsessive art collector.

Perdios lived in Palaio Psychiko, where he kept his art collection consisting of major Greek artworks dated from the 17th to the 20th century.

Among his artworks were paintings from Greek painters such as Parthenis, Tsarouchis, Vryzakis and Galanis.

According to art experts and auctioneers, the value of his collection is estimated at more than 10 million euros.

After Perdios' death his house was sealed off by the Greek Ministry of Culture and the Greek National Gallery for fear of theft. The future of his art "treasures" is currently unknown.
