Koutsoubas: “A new and perhaps worse Annan plan”
"They are preparing a new Annan plan, perhaps worse than the last. We are actually talking about two constituent countries. KKE expressed once again its opposition to these plans" said the General Secretary of the of the Parliamentary group of KKE Dimitris Koutsoubas, with a statement after his meeting with the President of the" Citizens Alliance "of Cyprus, Giorgos Lillikas.
"We will fight with all our might for a united Cyprus, independent with a single citizenship, a single international personality and a sovereignty without foreign bases and foreign troops, without protectors and guarantors and of course the people in the place of the master, the sovereign people of Cyprus, Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Maronites, Armenians, Latins, " said Koutsoubas, adding that "fighting for comprehensive changes, so the Greek people to emerge from the crisis and build on there own power decommitted from the shackles of the EU, and for the people of Cyprus, but also all the people of Europe".
The General Secretary of the KKE stated that "it is common fight against a common enemy and that KKE will continue in this direction mobilizing the Greek people, but also other political forces who want to contribute to this event, in order proceed in the best way". On his behalf Lillikas said that "we share the same concerns and concepts with the KKE, because the environment in which it develops new initiative for solutions to the Cyprus problem is very difficult for the Greeks. Cyprus and Greece are economically dependent and weak and therefore vulnerable to pressure and blackmail".
The chairman of "Citizens Alliance" noted that the framework for the solution of the Cyprus problem "is none other than the Annan plan with a new version worse for the Greek side". "For us," he added "a solution of the Cyprus problem will be meaningful, if it negates the occupation data. The solution should be based on the data of the 21st century and not in the data of 1974 and will have the option to restore the practice of human rights for all legal citizens of Cyprus, and all democratic freedoms for its citizens. "
Lillikas concluded: "The solution which is under negotiation will deprive those Greek Cypriots and will allow the return of the so-called Turkish Cypriot constituent state, as the president has admitted. The right to vote, is unacceptable for us. It is unthinkable to ask people deprived of democracy and freedom to decide for themselves".
