Only 16% of the unemployed receives unemployment benefit
According to OAED, in January, only 16% of the unemployed received unemployment benefit.

The number of Greek citizens registered with OAED in order to find a job, amounted to 854,659 people. Of these, 49.50% (423,025) had been registered for a period equal to or longer than 12 months, and 50.50% (431,634) were registered for less than 12 months.
25.41% (217,133 people) of unemployed are under 30 years old, 62.86% (537,199 people) belong to the 30 – 54 age group, while 11.74% (100.327 persons) are over 55 years old.
The number of unemployed without education amounts to 1.36% (11,653 persons). 414,865 people (48.54%) have received a secondary education, while unemployed persons who have received a higher education number 135,443 (15.85%).
Greek unemployment is more than twice the average rate in the euro zone.
