No more free coffee and water for the Parliamentary Committees
The above decision takes effect after command of the President of the Parliament, Vangelis Meimarakis, after extreme reactions from citizens with the occasion of recent disclosure about the amount expended for coffee and water offered to guests of 44 committee meetings. The unreal amount reaches 10,023 euros and if anyone tried to divide this amount by the number of guests, then each coffee cost 3.7 euros to the Greeks.
This fact comes just one month after the uproar created by the money given by the Parliament for cookies, which touched 16.753 euros. The thoughtless extravagance does not stop coffees, cookies and water, as its estimated that the Greek Parliament spends 36.078 euros for newspapers and magazines in the Press Office. This expenditure is indeed only the month of February. We hope after the decision to abolish free coffee and water, there will be more "brakes" on what seems wasteful spending that the Greek Parliament, which Greek people have to pay.
