At a press conference in Canberra, the Australian authorities for Maritime Safety (AMSA) announced that one of the objects is 24 meters long!

"The task of locating these objects will be extremely difficult, and it may turn out that they may not be related," said Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

The Australian authorities are sending – about 3,000 kilometers west of Perth in Indian Ocean – four aircrafts and two ships to investigate and possibly retrieve those unknown items.

A P-3 Orion aircraft arrived in the area to try to get a closer look at the objects, and three more jets were on their way to assist, John Young, officer of the Australian authorities for Maritime Safety said.
