Weeping for the prison officer who was killed by an Albanian lifer

It was a little after 14:00 noon Tuesday, when the Albanian lifer Ilia Kareli , a convict for murder and armed robbery, killed with a makeshift knife the 46 year old prison officer because he had refused to grant him a permit for March 25th. According to information, the Albanian thug shouted: "You won't let me see my mom; I'll take the life of one of you". The father of three who served from 1997 was attacked with a knife in the carotid and although transferred directly to the hospital in Amphissa, he didn't survive.

Immediately after the brutal murder of prison officer, forces of ELAS were sent directly to prison and MAT police forces surrounded the prison. Newsbomb.gr contacted the Public Relations Officer of the prison, Aravantinos , who obviously sad, said: "I cannot say much. The grief is heavy. We counted about 100 wounded and more. Now we also have a dead person. We expected this would happen. We had repeatedly stressed that we will mourn our dead and no one heard us. I knew the victim personally and I swear this isn't over. He was the father of three children. The gentlemen who are responsible for his death will find us in front of them".

Sympathy from Athanasiou

The Minister of Justice, Charalambos Athanasiou, expressed his condolences for the assassination of police officer in the prison of Malandrinos, Giorgos Tsironis, who was killed in the line of duty. He stated: "The Greek government will not allow anyone to undermine policy against crime. The Rule of Law will work and people will feel that they live in a safe and well-governed country. Therefore, without concessions and compromises, we aim to consolidate the legality and safety of citizens, while protecting the integrity of the prison staff".
