Venizelos wanted the expulsion of GAP!

Mr. Venizelos became furious at GAP immediately after the vote on the multi-bill, where the former prime minister voted against Article 2 about banks, agreeing with the substance of the allegations of SYRIZA.

Mr. Venizelos entered his office in the House and announced to his stunned colleagues that he will expel GAP from the party!
There was panic, a lot of PASOK MPs who were there agreed, but in the end the most level-headed thoughts prevailed.

Specifically, other MPs pointed out to Mr. Venizelos that if GAP would be expelled, then the government majority would shrink even more (Mr. Nick. Kaklamanis had been already expelled from the parliamentary group of ND), but more importantly it could create a major political issue as would be very likely that some members of PASOK would follow the former prime minister!

So Venizelos has revised his intentions and chose to heckle him.

But in any case the differentiation of George Papandreou will have profound effects within the PASOK party, while GAP and Venizelos are now in discord...
