Greek exports fell for fifth successive month
Greek exports remained under pressure and fell for the fifth successive month in February.
The last time exports recorded an increase was in September 2013, an analysis by the Panhellenic Exporters Association said on Monday.
The analysis showed that Greek exports grew slightly (0.4 pct) to EU member-states but fell by 12.4 pct to Third countries, reflecting a decline in oil product exports. Excluding oil products, Greek exports fell by 7.4 pct to EU states and by 2.1 pct to Third Countries. These figures changed the export ratio between EU states (45.8 pct) and Third Countries (54.2 pct). This ratio was completely different if oil products were excluded to 64.9 pct (EU) and 35.1 pct (Third Countries) according to ANA-MPA
Despite the February decline, most categories of export products recorded growth rates in the month. More analytically, the food (3.2 pct), beverage-tobacco (25.1 pct), raw materials (17 pct), chemicals (14.7 pct), industrial products (4.7 pct) and confidential products (104.3 pct) moved higher, while oil products (-8.7 pct), olive oil (-74.3 pct), industrial products (-6.9 pct) and machinery (-4.5 pct) fell in the month.
