Pedophiles in 32 countries have been located by Hellenic Police in Internet
During the operation, which lasted more than seven months, the Computer Crime Unit identified a total of 78 users - perpetrators, whose electronic traces result in 32 different countries. This was made possible with the use of a specific program TLO (scanning software of electronic traces of trafficking pornographic material).
Apart from Greece, pedophiles have traced in Germany, Russia, USA, UK, France, Poland, Sweden, China, Czech Republic, Iran, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, Peru, Venezuela, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Colombia, Georgia, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Australia, Canada, Portugal, Mexico, Bahamas, Austria, Slovenia and Belgium.
In Greece, formed three separate case files and arrested in flagrante delicto, in Ioannina and Athens, three people, two of whom are Greeks aged 34 and 25 years and a foreign national 47 years old from Bulgaria. They have been prosecuted for child pornography via the Internet.
Specifically, in November, was identified the criminal action of the 34 year old man, who handled tough child pornography through a specific program of file sharing Peer to Peer (P2P), in the Internet.
Then, after the utilization of the internet findings and traces of the 34 year old man who was arrested, in cooperation with the competent prosecuting authorities, was conducted a targeted search in the Internet on this file sharing program, with the ultimate goal of finding and identifying other users who held and shared child pornography material.
In addition, in late April, a 47 year old pediatrician was arrested in Ioannina. In the research conducted at his home, were found stored, in various digital storage mediums, many files of "tough" child pornography.
He was prosecuted for "supply and possession of child pornography via the Internet, connected with the use of minors who have not completed 15 years of age, by offender acting towards habit".
The pediatrician, according to police, had a central role in a closed user group of this file sharing program, whose members used special tricks, programs for concealment of electronic authentication and encryption, to cover their illegal activity on the internet.
Afterwards, a 25 years old man was arrested in Attica; in his laptop computer were found stored files (video and photos) of pornographic material of minors.
The above files were sent to the forensic laboratory for further examination, and emerged that many of these were "tough" child pornography material which was displayed for the first time.
The whole data which were obtained during the Hydra operation in the above countries, have already been sent to Interpol and Europol to identify other users of the program, the exact number of records they hold and to identify possible victims of child pornography.
As noted during the announcement of the Police, is the first time that the Department of Electronic Crime plans, organizes, coordinates and implements such a large-scale police operation, in the global online web.
